Craft with Me Saturday Junk Journals
Welcome this is something I have been working on off and on for awhile.
Since I have had several members express an interest in Junk Journals I thought today was a good day to invite you in.
Welcome to Women of Encouragement and Blessings the blog.
Today lets prepare for making a Junk Journal.
Part 1 collecting papers . . .
I have stacks and stacks of papers. I have been collecting for several years.
But my supply is dwindling.
And I plan to use it all up soon.
First I separate into piles. This is a stack of paper from magazines and newsletters.
I chose this calendar because there is plenty of blank space for writing.
I decorated the edge by sewing a fabric tab.
I think years back I must have copied the first page of a quilting book.
I am not one to tear up books.
A paper that I Avocado dyed. I added scrapbook paper and glued down three sides for a pocket . A piece of ribbon sewed on adds interest.
Dyed paper. I add glitter glue to the dye bath. There are nice sparklies left on the paper.
I decorated the top edge with a scrap of paper and lace.
Remember anything works. This was the title page from an old planner. Like 1992 old.
Even older is better if you can get it. I added the black flower paper to add interest.
A colorful page from an old How to plan a party book.
An example of a magazine page. This one I plan to use in A Horse Theme J.J. for my daughter.
Adult coloring book pages. The back is blank for lots of writing space or decorating.
I plan to use this magazine page. There is alot of visual interest.
Maps add interest. This one has space to write on.
Old decorative printer paper. I did have to cut one edge to fit properly.
I love this printable. It was gifted to me by Penny. I added a pocket for some color and interest. I love this layout. I glued the spread to the back of the magazine page below . . .
I wanted to use the photos of this antique glassware. The page will need to be trimmed to fit.
Just cut down 12x12 scrapbook paper.
Any kind of writing paper works well. These one I dyed. Childrens writing tablet paper dyes nicely.
Old letterhead. Another paper I am saving for the horse J.J. for my daughter.
A pretty colorful scrapbook paper. I sewed to another paper see below.
I had a few of these left. It is the instructions for a horse back riding jumping event.
This pad of paper came with a desk bloater pad. It is perfect size. And has room to write. I plan to cover the words some how.
A stack of all kinds of papers to add.
I played with new script stamps in Antique Brown ink to make it look more vintage.
In the pocket is a piece of paper to write a Prayer or a Scripture.
This is an off cut. The flowers are pretty. Even though they didn't print properly.
I added a paper and lace cluster to the edge. It is sewn on two sides to form a tuck spot.
A quilting instruction sheet. I decorated to hide the words. I left a little to show the quilting instruction.
The full spread. I will leave the text and drawing. There is room to write. Or do a flip up to cover the words. Currently I am liking the text showing.
Nest I am showing stages of a page that I did a collage. The black patterned paper was a greeting card so I have that memory. It is glued on 3 sides to make a pocket.
Several years ago I had a penpal. She wrote a lot. This card was from my stack of memories from that time.

Showing the pocket filled . . .
Another pocket on the bottom with collaging around it. The pink pocket was a Project Life Journaling card I cut to fit.
The pocket holds pink dyed paper to write a Prayer or Scripture.
A floral magazine page. This one is folded into a pocket.
More stamping on the page shown above . . .
Another cluster . . .
Not much writing space but pretty to look at.
A printable with writing space.
This group of photos loaded out of order. The music page is folded and put inside a pocket . . .
I love how this page turned out. The large Butterfly is glued to music paper that was the label on a package. Glued to make a pocket.
The complete page. My favorite in this signature.
This the inside of page below. On right is collaging I did.
I wanted to use this paper but it was torn. I covered the tear with music paper.
A very pretty printable that was gifted to me.
I wanted to use in my Prayer and Scripture Journal.
All papers shown in this post are from my collection of saved papers.
All printables were gifted to me and are the creations of Penny Whittemore.
Our group has been given permission and access to lovely printables that our member Penny Whittmore offers us for free. Check out this link to view this month's free printables https://sites.google.com/view/thatsjustpenny
